Barcelona's Tweet celebrating Lionel Messi's 36 La Liga goals did not go down too well.

The 2018/19 La Liga season is officially in the books with Barcelona taking home the league title after they finished the campaign with an impressive 87 points, 11 points clear of nearest rivals Atletico Madrid.

And Barcelona's magical No.10 played a huge role in the club's league triumph. He chipped in with a remarkable 36 league goals.

Naturally, he finished as the league's top scorer and by some way. In second place, teammate Luis Suarez and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema who both scored 21 league goals.

The 15 goal difference was pointed out by the Spanish champions who posted a bizarre Tweet on social media.

Needless to say, it got people talking including Real Madrid fans who poked fun of their arch rivals.

Here's some reaction from Twitter:

Messi has enjoyed another scintillating individual season and the difference in goals shows the disparity in quality among the Barcelona squad.

But the club will reinforce during the summer transfer window with Frenkie de Jong's services already secured for next season.

They also remain in the hunt for his Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt as well as Antoine Griezmann who's set to leave Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona's potential line-up for next season is scary.
