In the midst of battle, Gerard Pique produced a class gesture.

Camp Nou hosted the first El Clasico of the season with Barcelona fans in full-voice which included derogatory chants aimed at Sergio Ramos.

Barcelona supporters shouted "Sergio Ramos son of a b*tch" with Pique immediately reacting.

He asked the fans to stop chanting the insult by wagging his fingers in a brilliant show of respect.

Commendable actions considering the sheer magnitude of the game and rivalry.

Meanwhile, victories over Sevilla, Inter Milan and Real Madrid without Lionel Messi has filled Barcelona with great confidence.

"We scored five goals!" Pique said. "These are moments to enjoy.

"It's not easy to score five goals against your rival, so you have to enjoy it when it happens. I'm really happy. It's an important result.

"The team's better than ever and this week (wins against Sevilla, Inter Milan and Real) has given us a lot of confidence.

"We've been at a great level without even having our best player."

Pique produced another hand gesture, too.

Barcelona secured all three points by thrashing Real Madrid 5-1. Luis Suarez bagged a stunning hat-trick with Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal also getting on the score-sheet.

Vidal netted in the 87th minute and the defender celebrated by gesturing five on his hands in front of the Barcelona fans.

The win sends Barcelona back to the top of La Liga with 21 points on the board.

Real Madrid continue to languish in the league, occupying ninth spot with Julen Lopetegui under intense scrutiny.
