Atalanta's Alejandro Gómez Wins Valentines Day With Internet Meme Featuring His Wife

Take a bow, sir.

We've been planning this day for weeks and now the time has finally come.

How do you break it to your partner that Champions League football is miles better than Valentines Day and date night is just not happening?

Especially when Real Madrid host Paris Saint-Germain at the Bernabeu and Liverpool travel to the famous Estádio do Dragão to face FC Porto - a night in front of the tele is a must this evening.

Somebody who has already hinted that date night is off the cards tonight is Atlanta forward and FIFA legend Alejandro Darío Gómez.

Gomez took to social media on Tuesday evening and bravely dropped the biggest meme of the year.

Her: "He is definitely thinking about another girl..."
Him: "How am I going to explain that I'm watching Champions League on Valentine's Day..."

Now that is a very brave man, but we absolutely appreciate the incredible use of meme here. It gets a solid 10/10 from me.

Back-to-back winners Real, who won the trophy last year courtesy of a 4-1 win over Juventus in Cardiff in the final, finished second to Tottenham in their Champions League group, but will be looking for a big win tonight.

PSG, meanwhile, topped their group on goal difference, having accrued 15 points, scored 25 goals and conceded four.

With the talented trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani tearing it up on a regular basis, Unai Emery's side are one of the favourites to go all the way.

But holders Real, despite their dip in performance levels this term, are still right in contention of winning a third Champions League on the trot.

So with two of Europe's big guns locking horns for the first time since 2015, as well as Porto-Liverpool, it promises to be a cracking night of football.

Let your partner know that you're watching the football tonight. Go on, just tag them in the comments.

It's definitely happening.
