Marcus Rashford has leaped to the defence of his Manchester United teammate Jesse Lingard over THAT controversial Snapchat video.

Lingard posted a bizarre tour around his apartment in Miami while dropping swear words throughout the obscene clip.

He was subject to intense criticism for his antics on holiday, but Rashford has defended Lingard's actions.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the club's first game of their pre-season tour, the forward said: "I've not spoken to the manager about it but from what I've seen of it, people have to understand that he was enjoying his holiday and it was a mistake so there is not really much I can say about that."

Rashford concedes United weren't good enough last season though he believes his side are in much better condition ahead of the new campaign.

"The mood is how it should be, everyone is positive. Last season wasn't good enough. We're in much better condition than we were this time last year," the 21-year-old added.

The England international has put pen to paper on a new lucrative contract at Old Trafford and he remains hellbent on achieving his goal of getting United back to where they belong.

"For me, that just puts an even bigger challenge to us. We never shy from a challenge, we have to move forward as a team.

"It has always been a goal to get us back to where we should be. It wasn't a hard decision. I think we have to take it one game at a time. But for us we can't look too far ahead, we just have to concentrate on ourselves."
