Sergio Ramos has posted a rousing Tweet following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui.

Once Zinedine Zidane departed Real Madrid after bagging a third straight Champions League title, it left a managerial void with the club springing a surprise by appointing Spain's Lopetegui.

He was set to take charge of Real Madrid after Spain's World Cup campaign.

About that.

It's fair to say the Spanish Football Federation weren't thrilled with the news of Lopetegui becoming Real Madrid manager.

Just before the World Cup kick-offs, Spain ruthlessly sacked Lopetegui while drafting in Fernando Hierro.

And one member of Spain's camp in the shape of Ramos has Tweeted a brilliant message ahead of taking on Portugal on Friday night.

"We are the selection, we represent a shield, some colors, a hobby, a country. Responsibility and commitment are with you and for you. Yesterday, today and tomorrow, together: #VamosEspaña".

Meanwhile, SFF president Luis Rubiales issued a statement through a press conference: "We are in an extremely difficult situation; this is very, very hard," he said.

Rubiales added: "There are decisions that we are obliged to take based on an understanding of how you should behave and on ethics.

"The national team belongs to everyone and we have to send a clear message to all employees at the federation that there is a way of behaving, that there are ethics.

"Julen has worked phenomenally well; I have nothing at all to complain about there. But the way that this has happened obliged me to take this decision. This is a very hard day and now we have decisions to make just two days before the World Cup starts."
