Statues being created for footballers just never end up being any good, do they? Radamel Falcao is the latest high-profile to have one erected and it's predictably utterly terrible.

In his hometown of Santa Marta, artist Antonio Irisma Arias has crafted an all-white 19 foot sculpture for Colombia's all-time top scorer.

It features him pointing to the sky like his trademark celebration and even though it's apparently not fully finished just yet, it will take a miracle for it to look anything like 'El Tigre'.

The figurine is said to have cost £2,500 and you'd expect much better for that sort of fee. We'd love to know what Falcao thinks of it.

Explaining why he's made the monument to commemorate the Monaco striker, Irisma Arias said the following to El Tempo earlier this year:

"For his discipline, perseverance and fight he is an example for children and adults to follow. We feel proud of this son of Santa Marta and that is why we wanted to create this work in his name.

"Everyone's wants him (Falcao) to visit the neighbourhood so that he can appreciate this heartfelt homage that he wanted to present him with affection and respect."

Falcao joins Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Maradona, Michael Essien and Asamoah Gyan in the shite statue club.
