Mauro Icardi has a growing list of problems at Inter Milan, with his most recent issue involving teammate Ivan Perišić.
The 25-year-old Argentine striker has been dropped as club captain -- Samir Handanović has now taken the armband -- and has been left out of Luciano Spalletti's squad for the Europa League clash with Rapid Wien on Thursday.
Il Giornale's Franco Ordine has claimed that Icardi and Perišić had a confrontation this week, according to CalcioMercato.
It's reported that the exchange came after the Argentina international's agent and wife, Wanda Nara, said on TV that the former Inter captain had "personal problems" with the 30-year-old Croatian winger.
"Perišić went to Icardi and told him: 'Tell your wife that she doesn't have to speak about me on TV,'" Ordine said.
"Between Icardi and the rest of Inter, the club choose the rest."
Icardi, who is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe, is contracted with I Nerazzurri until 2021, but contract negotiations between the club and his agent have hit a standstill.
The Italian side were keen to negotiate a new deal and eliminate his release clause, especially with other clubs interested in signing him at the end of the season.
Icardi's current contract includes a €110m release clause, which will become active from 1st July until 15th July.
The Inter boss revealed ahead of their Europa League match that the striker said he "did not want to be there."
"The decision to remove the captaincy from Icardi was difficult and painful, absolutely shared by all the club members and taken for the good of Inter," he explained (via BBC Sport).
"He was called up for Vienna, but he did not want to be there.
"Things around him have disturbed him and the team he captained. Now we have to focus all our attention on Thursday's game."
