Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazario is reportedly closing in on a 30 million euros takeover of Spanish side Real Valladolid.

The two-time Ballon d'Or winner, who scored over 350 career goals in an illustrious career at the highest level, has been linked with a bid for the Blanquivioletas for a few months now.

When the rumours first came about at the back-end of last season, Valladolid were occupying sixth place in the Segunda division and hoping to return to the big-time via the play-offs.

And they did just that, finishing fifth in the league but beating both Sporting Gijon and Numancia to take the third promotion spot.

But it still looks as though there will be a change of ownership at the club, with Cadena Ser saying R9 is closing in on the purchase.

O Fenomeno' has ties to Valladolid vice president Jose Moro, as he was his partner in a wine business called Cepa 21. His relationship with Moro looks set to see him return to football in a different capacity.

Carlos Suarez is currently the owner and president of Valladolid, but the club reportedly in fairly substantial debt, extra investment is very much needed.

It's said that should the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid man complete his takeover, he would take on the role of president but Suarez would move into an executive president and retain plenty if involvement.

Though there are other potential suitors, Ronaldo is the strongest candidate and the deal should be done and dusted in the next two to three weeks.

In their first two games in the new La Liga season, Valladolid drew with Girona before succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to champions Barcelona, who had major gripes with the quality of the pitch this weekend.

Sergio's side hope to get their first victory of the campaign when they travel to Getafe on Friday night.
