Newcastle 'Willing To Break Transfer Record' Again With Move For £52 Million Striker

These numbers are almost unheard of for Newcastle...

Newcastle recently broke their long-standing transfer record with the £21 million capture of Atlanta United forward Miguel Almiron but the talk is that they could be spending even more cash on a frontman very soon.

German outlet Sport1 say that the Magpies are keen on Hoffenheim striker Joelinton, who has 10 goals and six assists in 28 appearances this season.

Newcastle's interest in the 22-year old is strong but he won't come on the cheap as the figure being mentioned is €60 million (£52.1 million) - not the sort of numbers you typically associate with a club who had Michael Owen as their record signing for 14 years before Mike Ashley finally put his hand in his pockets.

The report notes that negotiations between the two have been ongoing for the last few weeks and could be completed next week for a summer deal to go through. It feels so unlike Newcastle but their supporters have been crying out for this level of investment for a while now.

It remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle will splash out the big dollar on the former Rapid Vienna man, though he is also attracting interest from RB Leipzig, who will appoint current Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann in the summer.

Can you see Newcastle doing something you never expected them to?
