Gary Neville: 'There's Nothing About This Manchester United Team I Like At All'

The Manchester United legend fumed after United conceded a second-half equaliser to Huddersfield...

Gary Neville is prone to a passionate rant about Manchester United when players aren't pulling their weight and he produced another when the Red Devils conceded an equaliser to Huddersfield this afternoon.

United went 1-0 up through Scott McTominay's strike in the first half but were held 1-1 by the worst team in the league when Isaac Mbenza latched on to Jonas Lossl's long kick up the pitch and scored his first goal for the Terriers.

The goal conceded summed up the performance from United when they needed to win to still be in with a shout of achieving Champions League football next season and Neville, on co-commentary for the game, was furious and went as far as saying there is "nothing about this United team I like at all".

"This is Huddersfield Town who have struggled all season. Watch this Huddersfield team, they haven't got the quality, but I like watching them a lot more than watching the ones in the red shirts to be honest with you," Neville fumed on Sky Sports.

"At least you can identify with them. Nothing about this United team I like at all. They're just awful. They're a despondent group of people. Luke Shaw doesn't know whether to go with his left foot or his right foot.

"Solskjaer is smiling at them, they're that bad. Manchester United's away support will never stop singing but this group of players have drained the energy out of them. He's [Ed Woodward] had several of them [transfer windows] already so maybe it will be better this time."

Neville also stressed the need for a sporting director to be appointed so that there is a structure and identify to United again.

"This isn't a team at all," he added.

"It reminds me of the Tottenham group Pochettino inherited, with Kaboul, Adebayor, Capoue in, a group of individuals without any real spirit - he dismantled it piece by piece.

"Ole will need to do the same, it'd be nice if the club got an experienced sporting director to help him, but the shambles of that recruitment reported in the press this week hasn't helped."

United's draw, accompanied by Chelsea's 3-0 win over Watford, means they will have to settle for Europa League football on Thursday nights next season.

A big rebuilding job is on the cards...
