Gary Neville has offered his thoughts on Manchester United's Premier League defeat to WBA, and, naturally, it doesn't make for good reading.

Manchester City were officially crowned English champions following United's surprising 1-0 loss to the leagues bottom club.

Jay Rodriguez's goal in the second half handed the league title to Pep Guardiola.

And on Monday Night Football, Neville weighed in on Sunday's display and United's campaign as a whole.

"It was dismal, it was a dismal day," he said on Sky Sports via Daily Express.

United did, though, stop City from winning the title last weekend after coming from two-down.

"I suppose in some ways Manchester United stopped what would be this nightmare scenario last week of City winning the game at the Etihad in front of United's fans obviously in that far end."

While continuing to analyse Sunday's 'appalling performance'.

"But it was an appalling performance. Jose Mourinho mentioned the words 'inconsistency' and 'attitude'."

Neville added: "That's difficult to coach out of people if that's the problems that are occurring - inconsistency and attitude.

"So he has to identify the issues that he has in that changing room and in that squad that are causing those inconsistencies and lack of attitude in these types of matches and deal with it at the end of the season.

"I do agree with him, Manchester United didn't lose the league yesterday, they lost it over a full season and Manchester City have been by far the best team and were always going to win it.

"But it was certainly a weak way to end."

United will be hoping to at least secure second spot ahead of Liverpool. And they can still claim silverware in the shape of the FA Cup.

Mourinho's side take on Spurs in the semi-final, this weekend.
