José Mourinho has raised a fair few eyebrows in the footballing world after claiming that one footballer is "one of the most underrated players in the world."

Speaking on beIN SPORTS after Barcelona's 1-0 victory against Real Madrid in El Clásico on Saturday, the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager spotlighted one player who doesn't receive enough credit in his eyes.

"Before I leave, let me say something. I've wanted to say this for a long, long time: Ivan Rakitić is one of the most underrated players in the world," he said.

"I just wanted to finish on that because normally we speak about the big names.

"For me, Rakitić needs to improve his Instagram and his social media because in this moment this is very important and he is not very good on that, he is good on the pitch.

"He's a fantastic player at every level. He does defensive work on the right-hand side to compensate [Lionel] Messi, he runs miles.

"In ball possession, he's fantastic, he's simple and he's effective. He is one of the most underrated players."

Rakitić, who has been linked with an exit from the Spanish club in the summer, proved his worth to Barça after he scored the winner against Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Los Blancos supporters chanted Mourinho's name after the El Clásico defeat, with the Special One linked with a potential return to the club.

Former Madrid president Ramón Calderón has claimed that Mourinho would be the next manager for Los Blancos.

"I have the feeling, and something else, that next season Mourinho will sit on the bench of Real Madrid," he explained on Twitter.

However, the former Los Blancos boss was quick to disperse rumours linking him with the reigning Champions League holders.

"Honestly, in relation to the words of Mr [Javier] Tebas, the league president, I think it's very flattering the fact he names me as somebody that could bring something to his Liga," he said.

"He's doing amazing work in Spain and to mention me is very flattering.

"Mr [Ramón] Calderón, obviously, ex-president of Real Madrid I'm pretty sure that probably he has general information about the club of his passion.

"But he knows more than me! Because I know absolutely nothing about it at all."

Which club should Mourinho manage next?
