José Mourinho Has Emerged As One Of The Favourites To Become Celtic Manager

José Mourinho has emerged as one of the odds-on favourites to become the next Celtic manager after a well-known bookmaker slashed the odds on him heading to Celtic Park.

The Special One has been out of management since Manchester United axed him back in December, but he has already claimed that he has been offered the opportunity to return to management.

While it's still unclear where the 56-year-old Portuguese manager sees his future, Paddy Power believes that the Scottish side are interested in appointing him as their next head coach.

In fact, the Irish bookmaker has slashed the odds on the former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea boss to become Celtic manager from 66/1 to 14/1.

"José Mourinho and Celtic may not seem like a natural partnership, but the Bhoys do have recent experience in coaches with humongous egos," a Paddy Power spokesperson said.

"And, actually, both parties have pretty strong links with Champions League success in Portugal.

"It could be viewed as an odd move for Mourinho but, having linked himself with the jobs at PSG and Bayern, Celtic would fit with [the] apparent approach of targeting one-club leagues."

However, Mourinho is not the favourite to land the managerial post currently occupied by Neil Lennon, who took over from Brendan Rodgers after he signed for Leicester City in February.

Lennon currently sits on (11/10) in Paddy Power's list, while former Celtic boss and current Nottingham Forest head coach Martin O'Neill has had his odds slashed from 80/1 to 7/1.

Mourinho, who has also been linked with the managerial post at Roma, has also attracted the interest of Marseille, with club legend Jean-Pierre Papin recently urging the French side to snap up the Special One.

"Where could José Mourinho go? Sincerely, OM. If he has the profile? I think that today at OM, it needs [an] electroshock," he said (via Tribal Football).

"When we hear that the coach [Rudi Garcia] could leave today in Italy, for me there is no smoke without fire.

"Mourinho, it's been three or four times that we see him in the stands [Ligue 1] and I think it's not trivial.

"If we saw him arriving in Ligue 1 next year, I would find it great. For Ligue 1, for OM, for the standing, it would give to the championship. José Mourinho at OM, with the network he has, the players he could bring, it would be just great."

So, which club will Mourinho manage next?
