Ross McCormack will get a bonus around £1 million should Aston Villa secure promotion to the Premier League.

Yes, Ross McCormack.

The striker who hasn't played a single league game for Villa, this season.

The 31-year-old, who is on loan at Melbourne City, will pocked the nice sum if Villa get out of England's second tier per Sky Sports.

McCormack was snapped up by Villa for £12 million in 2016 from Fulham after a prolific spell at Craven Cottage.

Villa were hoping his goals would fire them back to the Premier League. Though he failed to produce, bagging a measly 3 league goals in 20 Championship appearances.

He was subsequently shipped out on loan to the Australian League, where he's scoring freely.

The Scot has chipped in with 14 league goals from 17 games in Australia.

But Melbourne City's season is over after losing out to Newcastle Jets in the play-off, as a result, he's heading back to the Midlands, returning to his his parent club.

However, his career appears to lie away from Villa Park.

McCormack has had a few run-ins with Steve Bruce whose publicly shamed him, calling him out for his 'bad attitude'.

Bruce wasn't happy after he didn't turn up for training because his electric gates wouldn't open.

"In my opinion he is not fit enough to play and he will not play unless his attitude towards training and missing training improves," he said.

Bruce added: "If that improves then I will reconsider him but if he continues to miss training, as he has done, that will be the situation.

"The latest excuse was that his gates had stuck but he couldn't jump over a fence that was 4ft 6" high.

"There has been too much indiscipline here at Villa. Not in 20 years in management have I ever gone down this route but I feel I have to make a stance because I will not put up with it on my watch."

McCormack still has two-years left on his Villa deal.

Meanwhile, Villa have one game left of the Championship season before embarking in the play-off.

Regardless of results, Villa will finish fourth in the league and are set to play either Boro or Derby County in the semi-final.
