Marko Arnautovic has savagely responded to Gary Neville's criticism.

The Austrian was one of West Ham's major summer signings. He was drafted in from Stoke City for £24 million but has failed to make a significant impression for his new side.

And he was subject to plenty of stick for his outing against Brighton. Sky Sports pair Jamie Carragher and Neville went in on the 28-year-old following West Ham's embarrassing home Premier League defeat.

Neville weighed in by saying: "He's Ronaldo in his own mind, that guy. That's his problem, he thinks he's better than he is."

Arnautovic has now responded.

Naturally, he's not happy while bringing up Neville's nightmare coaching stint in the La Liga with Valenica.

Though he does respect his achievement as a player. "I respect what Gary Neville achieved as a player. He was brilliant at Manchester United and hats off to him," Arnautovic told Laola1 via Goal.

"But what did he do as a coach at Valencia? His job is to criticise, that is 90 per cent of his job.

"I am not saying Gary Neville is a nobody. He has accomplished a lot in his life, he is a legend.

He hilariously added: "But as a coach? Let him stay on the TV."

Meanwhile, the manager who snapped up Arnautovic is no longer at the helm after Slaven Bilic was relieved of his duties.

West Ham sit precariously in the bottom three as they take on Watford once the international games are in the books.
