Manchester United Make Stunning Approach For Second Championship Star

Having finished in sixth place in the Premier League, Manchester United are already looking to be pretty active in the transfer market - with the latest word being that the club have made "initial contact" for Fulham hot-shot Ryan Sessegnon.

Tottenham and Juventus have registered interest in the youngster, though as per Sky Sports, only United have reached out to Fulham regarding Sessegnon's availability.

The Cottagers No.3, who turns 19 on Saturday, has already racked up over 100 first-team appearances.

30 of those came in his first season as a Premier League player last term and despite a fairly tough campaign playing under three different managers, Sessegnon's stock remains high and he's still tipped for a bright future.

It's believed that Sessegnon, the first player born in the 2000 to score in the Premier League, doesn't want to play another season in the Championship after Fulham were sent back down to the second tier at the first time of asking.

He only has one year remaining on his contract and it's getting to the point where Fulham are looking more willing to let him leave and get a decent fee for one of their prize assets.

There's a recurring theme when it comes to United's summer transfer targets - it appears as though they are very much planning for the future and identifying young, talented and hungry players.

Sky Sports also reported United's interest in Newcastle United's 21-year old midfielder Sean Longstaff, while they have also been linked with Swansea's nippy winger Daniel James.

The Manchester Evening News say that United are prepared to sign as many players that are sold in the upcoming window, with Ed Woodward stating that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be backed in the market.

Speaking on a conference call on Thursday, Woodward said: "The strength of our business means we have the financial resources to continue to provide backing for the manager and creating success on the pitch. This - as ever - remains our number one goal."
