The arrival of Brazilian teenager Gabriel Jesus was slated to be the only incoming at Manchester City this January but City's current predicament means they are set to go in the market for a midfielder, according to various reports.

City were dealt a major blow when summer signing Ilkay Gundogan tore his cruciate knee ligaments in the win over Watford last month and will not play again this season.

Fernandinho, who has acted as captain on a number of occasions this season, will serve a four-game ban after being shown his third red card of the season in the win over Burnley yesterday, while Fabian Delph has made just two appearances this season and has mainly spent his time appearing on Manchester City's YouTube channel.

And though Pep Guardiola has said that he was not planning to do any business, recent reports indicate that City will now look to sign a midfielder given their lack of options there.

Sevilla's Steven N'Zonzi is the name being mentioned. The former Blackburn and Stoke midfielder has a £25.6 million release clause and reports have indicated that Sevilla are resigned to losing him to either Juventus or City.

He would bring a much-needed steel to the City side in what is a crucial period in the season for Guardiola and his troops.

The consensus is that City would even consider signing a midfielder on-loan or for the short term in the hope of getting back into the Premier League title picture.

There is even talk that City could look for reinforcements in defence. City have had major issues at full-backs this season, with all four of their current options there, such as Aleksandar Kolarov and Pablo Zabaleta not getting any younger. However The Daily Mail report that City will only go after a full-back if one of their key full-back targets is available for transfer. They would likely wait until the summer to improve their full-backs.

Can you see City doing any business in the current window?
