Pep Guardiola is wasting no time in reinforcing his squad with more talent after Manchester City are reportedly in the final stages of signing João Cancelo.

According to Sport Mediaset, the deal for the Juventus star had 'been drafted for some time' and the Premier League champions are 'very close to the final conclusion.'

It is also reported that City have tabled a €50m bid for the 25-year-old Portuguese full-back, who would offer some much-need competition to Kyle Walker in the starting XI.

Danilo is expected to be axed from the club this summer and has been heavily linked with the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus.

There were reports that Danilo could be offered to the Serie A champions along with €40m for Cancelo, but it would seem that City are willing to pay the full fee instead.

Juventus signed Cancelo from Valencia in 2018 after Inter didn't make his loan spell permanent at the end of the 2017-18 season.

The Portugal international made 34 appearances across all competitions for the Old Lady last season, scoring once and assisting eight times.

Cancelo's impact in Turin has also caught the attention of Manchester United, who have been linked with the player in recent months.

Guardiola's side might have captured a historic domestic treble, but he realises the tough test he faces in retaining the Premier League title next season.

With Liverpool pushing his side to the final day of the season, the ex-Barcelona boss is keen to improve different areas of his squad.

Along with Cancelo, the City manager wants to bolster his midfield and his side have been linked with a move for Atlético Madrid's Rodri.

Another top target for City is Atlético star Saúl Ñíguez, who is seen as a long-term successor for Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho.

Would Cancelo be a hit at City?
