Manchester City's existing kit deal with Nike comes to an end at the end of the season, and it seems like the Premier League leaders will be switching kit manufacturers.

According to Jack Gaughan from the Daily Mail, the Blues are in line to switch to Puma as of next season, with the club closing in on a £50 million-a-year deal.

If the deal does indeed go through as expected, it will be the largest commercial deal in the club's history - and will see City close the gap on the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea when it comes to lucrative kit deals.

City started wearing Nike-created shirts in their 2013/14 double-winning campaign under Manuel Pellegrini, bringing in around £20 million per season.

But in the grand scheme of things, that £20 million is peanuts when you consider that across town, Manchester United are in the middle of a £750 million 10-year contract with Adidas.

City have been looking for a better arrangement when it comes to their kit manufacturer, and now look set to join Arsenal in changing from Nike to Puma. The Gunners are thought to make £30 million every season from the German sports company.

The switch is said to be on the same level as Chelsea, who ended a lengthy association with Adidas by moving to Nike this season.

Here's how some fans have reacted on social media:

AC Milan and Marseille have also signed with Puma for the 2018/19 season, outlining the brand's intent going forward.
