Man City Goalkeeper Ederson Recorded An Incredible Statistic In Manchester Derby

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson recorded an utterly ridiculous statistic yesterday and it really highlights just how dominant City were, as well as how United's attacking players got going.

The City shotstopper has proved to be a brilliant acquisition so far and was on-form in his Manchester derby debut.

As well as being ultra cool on the ball and starting City's attacks from his own goal, when it mattered most, he came up with a stunning double-save to deny Romelu Lukaku and then Juan Mata.

United's only real moment of quality in the game saw Anthony Martial pick out Lukaku in the box with a first-time cross and with the goal gaping, Ederson bravely saved the ball with his throat and then was up in no-time to keep out Mata on the follow-up.

The 23-year old Brazilian is really looking the part at the moment, and even it is early days, looks to be the perfect goalkeeper for Pep Guardiola's way of playing.

And incredibly, his 43 touches of the ball at Old Trafford saw him have more touches than every single one of United's attacking players.

Rashford and Martial, who were both very quiet yesterday, had 38 each, with Lukaku getting just 27 touches and struggling to get involved - as well as Lingard touching the ball on a mere 22 occasions.

United, who had just 35 per cent possession at home and were camped in their own half for large spells, could not get their match-winners in the game and it really showed.

Ederson, meanwhile, was involved in a heated exchange with Jose Mourinho after the game, with a crazy 20-man fracas ensuing.

Mourinho was unhappy with the way in which City celebrated the win in the dressing room and is reported to have entered and told them to keep the noise down.

Ederson is said to have taken issue with Mourinho's complaints and the two are believed to have engaged in a heated exchange in a narrow corridor outside City's dressing room.

Initially, as per Daniel Taylor from The Guardian, the two insulted one another in their native Portuguese, but Mourinho is then said to have accused the City shotstopper of feigning injury and time-wasting, before shouting "you fucking show respect. Who are you?".

Things escalated from there, with police and stewards having to intervene to stop a nasty-sounding bust-up that included 20 players and staff from both set of teams.
