Manchester City Fan Left Etihad Stadium Early, Thought They'd Gone Through

Manchester City Fan Left Etihad Stadium Early, Thought They'd Gone Through

Why you should never, ever leave a football game early...

When Raheem Sterling put the ball in the back of the net and sent the Etihad Stadium into raptures late on, on Wednesday evening, Pep Guardiola and Manchester City fans and players thought they had snatched it.

However, VAR ruled that Sergio Aguero was offside in the build-up to the last-gasp 'winner' and everyone associated with City went from the highest high to the lowest low in a matter of minutes.

And incredibly, one City fan left the ground early and had to be told by a reporter outside the stadium that the goal was not given.

"Why would I be disappointed? We won," the supporter says in the interview, which has well and truly gone viral.

When he finds out that VAR disallowed the strike that would have sent City into the Champions League semi-finals for the second time in their history, his reaction is utterly priceless.

We're still in disbelief as to how and why he got out of the ground during the big but ultimately pointless limbs because it makes no sense whatsoever.

Fans leaving early is one of football's biggest pet peeves and leaving to beat the traffic in these circumstances is definitely not a valid excuse.

Another man who thought City had gone through for a fair bit of time before was Spurs midfielder Mousso Sissoko.

The Frenchman was forced off in the first half with a groin injury and replaced by Fernando Llorente, who scored the decisive goal that booked Spurs' place in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time in the history.

Sissoko watched Sergio Aguero set up Raheem Sterling's 93rd minute 'winner' from the bench but because he headed straight down the tunnel and into the dressing room in disappointment, he had no clue that the goal was chalked off.

Completely oblivious until a member of the Spurs coaching staff informed him, he then rushed out onto the pitch to partake in the celebrations with his colleagues and supporters.
