Romelu Lukaku's Serie A debut could be delayed a tad due to the Inter Milan new boy being "too overweight", according to reports.

The Nerazzurri take on Lecce on Monday evening but Corriere dello Sport, via Football Italia, say they could be without their £74 million striker as he did not arrive at the club in good condition.

With all the uncertainty surrounding his future as well as an injury, Lukaku did not get a proper pre-season under his belt and ended up training with boyhood club Anderlecht in a bid to build his fitness ahead of his big-money move to Inter.

It's said that the former Chelsea and Everton striker currently weighs 104kg - 4kg more than what Inter want him to be - and he has been placed on a strict diet in addition to taking part in extra training.

It is worth noting that Lukaku scored four on his Inter debut but with him seemingly not up to speed for a competitive appearance, and Mauro Icardi on his way out, rookie 17-year-old striker Sebastiano Esposito is set to start up top with Lautaro Martinez.

Last season plenty of Manchester United supporters observed that Lukaku had been hitting the weights to hit to gain unnecessary muscle, while Red Devils' legend Gary Neville recently slammed the 26-year old for admitting to being overweight, as well as stating his 'professionalism is contagious.'

Will Lukaku do the business in Italy?
