Liverpool are taking a stand against Barcelona's extortionate ticket prices for Reds' fans making the trip to Catalonia on 1 May.

The Blaugrana are charging Liverpool supporters a ridiculous €119 for a ticket in the Camp Nou away end for the semi-final first leg.

But chiefs at the Merseyside club do not agree with their pricing structure for Champions League knockout games and they have thus decided to price their tickets at €119 for the second leg a week alter.

It's often said that two wrongs don't make a right, however Liverpool have announced they will use the extra €31 per ticket to subsidise tickets for 4,600 travelling fans - bringing the cost down to €88 euros.

Liverpool explained their decision in a statement on their official club website.

"The club believes parity of pricing is the most logical approach and remains committed to working with UEFA, ECA (European Club Association) and other member clubs with a view to introducing a more structured ticket pricing process for Champions League matches," the conclusion to the ticket update article reads.

It follows on from Manchester United making the very same call for their quarter final against Barcelona. The Red Devils were not in favour of Barca's decision to set the prices so high and took action.

For their first-leg clash at Old Trafford, United charged Barcelona fans the same price so the cost for their away tickets was reduced to £75.

"Barcelona confirmed our tickets for this game were to be priced at 102 pounds. In this instance we believe that our travelling supporters are again being subjected to increased/excessive ticket prices from the host club," read a statement from United.

"Similarly to Valencia in the group stages and Sevilla away last season, we have again taken the difficult decision to charge Barcelona fans for the home leg at Old Trafford the same amount that Barcelona are charging for the away fixture (102 pounds).

"We will use the additional revenue gained from this to subsidise our travelling support by paying the 27 pounds price difference for each of our travelling supporters."
