Liverpool right back Nathaniel Clyne has allegedly had to contact the police after learning that footage of him having sex had begun to circulate on social media.

The report claims that Clyne now fears for his reputation after the sex tape was shared online and has been left "horrified".

The video was shot in 2014 whilst at Southampton and it allegedly shows the defender having sex with a woman in his apartment while a male friend watches on.

A source told The Sun: "It's been difficult for Nathaniel. He was horrified anyone would set out to stitch him up like this. He felt it was a deliberate effort to ruin his good name and reputation.

"His agents felt he had to go to the police when it became apparent he was being smeared. He's a young man, devoted to his football career, on playing for Liverpool and England."

Merseyside police have confirmed they have launched an investigation.
