Lionel Messi has set incredibly high standards in his glittering career but it seems as though his son is the one who expects big things.

In a new interview, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has told of how his eldest son, Thiago, is his biggest critic - and he even gives his pointers on how his dad can improve.

"It's always difficult to digest defeats and bad performances, but [my son] Thiago now forces me to comment on what happened and explain," Messi told SPORT.

"He follows everything, asks questions, and gives me notes when things are not going so well. Yes, yes, I already received a couple of criticisms!"

With 19 goals and 10 assists this season in La Liga, as well as six goals in four Champions League, Thiago can't complain too much about his old man's form this season but it's nice to know he's always keeping him on his toes.

Messi and Thiago watched Barcelona's Champions League win over Inter from the stands back in October when the Argentine was suffering from an arm injury.

Messi's little LAD also went viral after a video of him sat in his seat drawing Juventus' badge during the game and showing it to his dad started doing the rounds.
