Barcelona's crushing Champions League final second leg defeat to Liverpool was all too much for Lionel Messi after the game.
Trailing 3-0 thanks from the first leg after a Messi masterclass, Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum bagged braces to send Jurgen Klopp's side into a second consecutive Champions League final.
It's the second year on the trot that they have bottled a Champions League second leg, having beaten Roma 4-1 at home in the quarter finals last year before being beaten 3-0 away.
And after promising Barca would do "everything possible" to bring the trophy back to the Nou Camp, Messi's emotions were running high in the dressing room last night.
As per The Guardian, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner broke down in tears and was "inconsolable".
His night was made worse by the fact he was forced to have a doping test straight after the humbling defeat.
According to El Chiringuito, Messi provided a sample but the process took so long that Barca left for John Lennon airport without him and the Blaugrana made alternative travel arrangements to reunite him with the rest of the squad for the journey back.
His disappointment was clear in the mixed zone, where he was not in the mood for a chat after passing through the area much later than his teammates.
When he did catch up with his teammates, Mundo Deportivo reported there was an altercation with fans near security at the airport, with security guard Pepe Costa having to take the player away from the argument:
After 12 goals and three assists in 10 games, Messi's quest for a fifth Champions League goes on for another season.
