Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi could have a remarkable 2019.

No, seriously. It could be an incredible moment in his career, mainly for the different trophies and honours that he could pick up this year.

To be honest, the Barça captain has already started to lay down his marker when his side won the La Liga title, with him coming off the bench in last month's clash against Levante to score the winner.

The Spanish side are also in the Champions League semi-final and hold a 3-0 aggregate lead over Liverpool after their first-leg match at the Camp Nou. Again, Messi made his presence felt by scoring a brace, which included a magnificent free-kick.

The La Liga champions will face Valencia in the Copa del Rey semi-final on 25th May, meaning there's another trophy that the 31-year-old Argentine forward could help his side lift.

That's not to mention the Supercopa de España could be picked up, too.

Should Ernesto Valverde's men win Europe's top-tier club competition, then Barcelona would be competing for the Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

Not too shabby, right? Well, we're not done.

Yes, the Argentina captain has a plethora of trophies that are up for grabs in 2019, but how about individual honours, eh?

Well, Messi could be winning a fair few if he keeps up his form.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is leading the top of the Champions League goalscoring charts with 12, so unless Ajax's Dušan Tadić really steps up in scoring -- he's currently on six, by the way -- there won't be anyone catching up to the Barcelona talisman.

Speaking of goalscoring, Messi is leading the way for the Pichichi Trophy, which Marca awards to the top scorer in La Liga for the season, with 34 goals to his name.

The Argentine magician has won the European Golden Shoe a record five times and is top of the charts for this season, holding a four-goal lead over Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappé.

Outside of goalscoring honours, Messi could also be in contention for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year Award and the Best FIFA Men's Player.

Finally, one of the biggest milestones that he could reach would be winning a record sixth Ballon d'Or, putting him one ahead of Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo.

Will Messi win the 2019 Ballon d'Or?
