Lionel Messi Becomes First Player In La Liga History To Score 400 Goals

Lionel Messi has reached another feat in his illustrious career, with the Barcelona captain once again showing his brilliance on the pitch.

Lionel Messi's goal in Barcelona's La Liga win over Eibar gave him his 400th La Liga goal and made him the first player in the competition's history to reach the milestone.

The 31-year-old Argentine magician broke into the Spanish club's first team back in 2004. Since then, the Barça captain has been deadly in the final third and reached this incredible feat in 435 matches.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored his 399th goal against Getafe last week and followed it up with the record-breaking goal against Eibar today to give Barca a 2-0 lead.

Messi's time at the Camp Nou has seen him win 32 trophies with the club -- and there'll be plenty more to come -- which includes nine La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, six Copa del Reys and seven Supercopa de Españas.

While Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo issued him the challenge to come and play in Italy as he has done, Messi has no intention of leaving Barcelona behind.

"Accepting Ronaldo's challenge to join Italian football? I don't need any change," he told Marca.

"I'm at the best team in the world. My challenges are renewed year after year.

"I do not need to change teams or leagues to set new goals. I am at home and I do not need to change."

SPORTbible reported that Messi, who will reportedly be returning to international duty at the Copa América, could either reach or break six records in 2019.
