Lionel Messi has the most goals and assists in La Liga this season.

The Barcelona talisman recorded his 13th assist of the league season by setting up Jordi Alba in stunning fashion for his side's second goal.

The link-up play between Messi and Alba is so natural that the Spanish full-back knows when a no-look pass is coming his way.

"Jordi Alba knows me to perfection," Messi told Catalunya Radio in September.

"He knows when I will give him a no-look pass. I have a special connection with him."

No player in Spain's top flight has created more goals than Messi.

What's more, no player has also scored more goals than the man himself in La Liga this term.

He's bagged a staggering 33 league goals. To put his impressive scoring feat in context, Luis Suarez is the second top scorer with 20 goals.

The Argentine maestro is also enjoying a superb Champions League campaign.

He's chipped in with 10 goals including a brace against Manchester United to secure a spot against Liverpool in the semi-final.

And ahead of facing another Premier League club in Europe, ex-United boss Jose Mourinho has offered some words of advice to Jurgen Klopp on how to stop Messi.

"Messi is having a phenomenal season and now with Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo outside this fight, he knows also that the golden ball is there waiting for him," Mourinho said.

"Messi is easy to understand, but it's not easy to create a cage to control him, because he comes from the right, but then stays in the middle. It's very difficult.

"When Messi has the ball, one, one, one, you are dead. That's why I never liked the individual man-to-man against Messi. Messi is a cage. You have to create a cage."

The 31-year-old has scored a ridiculous 24 Champions League goals versus English opposition but has yet to score against Liverpool.

Will he net against the Reds? Watch this space.
