Leeds United Completed Social Media With Incredible 'Merseyside Red' Tweet After 1-1 Draw With Liverpool

Leeds United's Twitter admin was bang on the money after the 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Leeds United produced a hilariously brilliant tweet trolling Liverpool over the European Super League formation following the 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

Diego Llorente's first goal for the club cancelled out Sadio Mane's opener in a game that almost became an afterthought after the shocking news that broke on Sunday.

Prior to the game, Leeds fans booed the Liverpool bus and protested against the breakaway competition the Premier League champions have signed up for.

The players then irked Jurgen Klopp by warming up in t-shirts containing the Champions League logo and the message "Football is for the fans. Earn it".

But the Yorkshire outfit saved their best and most brutal piece of work on social media when they tweeted the full-time result.

Whoever was manning couldn't resist a dig on the wording for the match report and posted that Marcelo Bielsa's side had held "Super League side Merseyside Reds to a 1-1 draw".

At the very start of the game, they had also tweeted, "We're underway against the Merseyside Reds at Elland Road!"

'Merseyside Reds', is of course, a default name Liverpool had many years ago on Pro Evolution when Konami didn't have any rights for Premier League sides.

The tweet from Leeds' official account has blown up, with nearly 160,000 likes and a whole lot of quote tweets and retweets.

Earlier on that day, Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn hilariously suggested that the "big six" clubs involved in the European Super League should have to change their names to PES names until the end of the season.
