Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has responded to claims Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was concussed in the Champions League final.

In the biggest game of his career, the former Mainz man produced two atrocious errors in Kiev - first rolling the ball straight to Karim Benzema to score the easiest opener before dropping Gareth Bale's swerving long-range shot into the net to the make score 3-1.

A devastated Karius pleaded for forgiveness from travelling Reds supporters after the match, with tears in his eyes.

Earlier in the game, the 24-year old was involved in a collision with Real skipper Sergio Ramos - and it emerged last night that he tested positive on 26 of 30 concussion tests he underwent at Massachusetts General Hospital under the watchful eye of Dr. Ross Zafonte on May 31.

The news has caused debate aplenty, but Kroos is not one of those who feels the two gaffes from his compatriot were a direct result of the nasty blow suffered at the hands of Ramos.

"I don't know if that explains the errors - I don't really see it that way," Kroos as quoted as saying by BILD.

"If it's a concussion and you notice it so extreme, I don't know if you can or should continue playing. If it's a concussion, it cannot have been so serious. He also had the opportunity to keep the ball in his hands."

It's certainly a surprising take from Kroos, given it's his fellow German.

Meanwhile Ramos, who is already enemy number one for Liverpool fans, has infuriated Reds' fans even further with his latest comments on the Salah and Karius incidents.

At this rate, you'd be surprised if the big Spaniard is allowed back in Liverpool again...
