Liverpool are reportedly making serious headway with Nike after a report suggests that they are on the verge of signing a new kit deal.

According to ESPN's sources, the Reds are in 'advanced talks' with the American manufacturer over their football kit.

As part of the new deal between the two, it would smash the value of Manchester United's £750m agreement with Adidas.

Liverpool have a current deal with New Balance that is worth £45m a year, but that will come to an end at the end of the next season.

ESPN also reports that Nike is leading the race to take over the helm of Liverpool's kit deal for the fact that it would have the 'readiness to put the club in the same earnings league as United.'

Nike isn't the only one interested in doing business with Liverpool. In fact, the Premier League side have held talks with Adidas and Puma in order to secure the most lucrative deal possible.

However, last season's Champions League runners-up are 'deep into negotiations' with Nike, with the company keen to strike up a deal ahead of the partnership with New Balance coming to an end.

Jürgen Klopp's men, who picked up a 2-0 win over Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday, will resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they host Chelsea at Anfield.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and are two points clear of Manchester City, though Pep Guardiola's men do have a match in hand.

The Reds will resume their Champions League campaign next week when they travel to the Estádio do Dragão for the second leg of their quarter-finals clash.
