Roy Keane has never been one to sugarcoat his opinions or pull any punches, and he's laid into Paul Pogba.

The former Manchester United skipper had a pop at Pogba last season for the way he and his brother, Florentin, acted during the Europa League clash between United and Saint-Etienne - the killer line being, "they've spoke more tonight than I have to any of my brothers in the last five years.

And he had a different kind of criticism for the £89 million man last night on ITV's Champions League highlights show.

Pogba has struggled a lot of late, being hooked by Jose Mourinho in defeats to Spurs and Newcastle after not pulling his weight. He was dropped for the visit of Huddersfield in between those two losses.

The Frenchman has not been disciplined enough in a midfield two alongside Nemanja Matic, with it being a popular opinion that he is much better-suited to play in midfield three, which is where he played with distinction at Juventus.

However, Republic of Ireland assistant boss Keane simply does not buy it.

"Any top player in midfield should be able to play in a two or a three," Keane said on ITV when discussing Pogba.

"The guy needs to do better himself and focus on what football is really about."

In some rather alarming news for United fans, there are reports from French newspaper L'Equipe that Pogba regrets returning to United and is not on the best of terms with Mourinho at the moment.

How do United solve the enigma that is Pogba?
