Decline? What decline?

Kylian Mbappe responded brilliantly when he was asked about Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Paris Saint-Germain travel to the home of the European champions on Valentine's Day in a tasty, tasty Champions League knockout game.

The French leaders are enjoying a brilliant campaign which includes being of the top of Ligue Un table, while scoring freely in Europe with their famed attacking trident in the shape of Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe running riot.

While their Champions League opponents are on a slump, PSG's French starlet believes Ronaldo is still a 'great player' despite his recent poor run of form.

"No, Ronaldo is not on the decline. If he is on the decline, there are many more players on the decline then. He is a great player," Mbappe said.

But ahead of their last 16 meeting, the 19-year-old is hoping Ronaldo has a quiet affair.

"But we hope he will remain quiet against us. We will prepare for the game by paying attention to all their strengths and he is one of their strengths in the team.

Meanwhile, PSG advanced to the next round of the French Cup courtesy of a stunning hat-trick from Angel Di Maria.

And Mbappe reckons the Argentine winger deserves a spot in Unai Emery's starting XI versus his former side.

"We all know very well how important Di Maria is to us. When he is like that, it's good for the whole team and it allows us to win a few games in a row.

"Yes, he deserves to start against Real Madrid, but I'm not the coach. But he does some beautiful things. It's great for everyone," Mbappe added.

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has also weighed in on Ronaldo. He was asked: "Ronaldo or Messi?"

"I like Cristiano a lot, but Messi is from another world," the Match of the Day host replied via ESPN.

He was then quizzed again: "Ronaldo or Neymar?"

"Neymar is the future, [although] Cristiano has been very, very good. Neymar is a great player. I like him a lot."

While giving a shout out to Spurs star Harry Kane who's scoring for fun this season.

"For the future? Harry Kane, for the future" Lineker added.

Before sharing his thoughts on Real Madrid's season.

"I don't know what happened with Madrid this season. Last year, they won almost everything. It is difficult to understand. Maybe it is because their players are a bit older now. But they are a different team this year."
