It appears Victor Lindelof's Manchester United turnaround is down to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was at the club when United signed Victor Lindelof from Benfica, has revealed the words of advice he issued to his Swedish counterpart.

"I think he had a difficult time in the beginning, but I think that is typical Swedish," he said.

"When you come somewhere, you are friendly to everybody. You play, you don't play, you still feel in friendly situation.

"I explained to him, 'listen, all these players are conquerors. You're here to survive. You're not here to be friendly to everybody so you need to perform.'

"If you don't perform, the club has no problems with selling [you], That's the way it is.

"And I think he's been doing good lately. He's playing much more after a first year of struggling."

Lindelof struggled upon arriving at United but he's now become a vital player under caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He continued to produce at the back by keeping a clean sheet in United's 1-0 victory against Leicester City on Sunday.

And Solskjaer praised his defensive duo after beating the Foxes.

"Fantastic to have a clean sheet," he said after the game.

"And they (Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof) played well against Arsenal together. Today, we started a little sloppy - Eric knows - but they really came good.

"It's a first [clean sheet] in a while, we've had three games now, Burnley , Brighton and Arsenal, where we've conceded after a couple of clean sheets, but that's important for us."

United snapped up Lindelof from Benfica for £31 million in 2017. He failed to establish himself in his debut campaign though he's played 21 league games this season, whilst also scoring his first goal for the club versus Burnley.
