Tom Huddlestone is edging closer to a move away from Derby County after reports suggest that he is in talks with a new club.

The 32-year-old midfielder left Hull City in 2017 for a second stint at his boyhood club, but it looks like he could be ready to leave the Rams in the January transfer window.

Sky Sports reports that Huddlestone's representatives are in talks with Udinese over a permanent move.

That's right, the Derby player is reportedly ready to leave the Championship and make the transition to Serie A.

Football fans have flocked to social media and have shared mixed responses about the potential deadline-day move.

"Huddlestone going is a massive blow, unless we find a replacement," one Twitter user wrote. "[George] Evans isn't good enough from what I've seen."

A second tweeted: "Tom Huddlestone to Udinsese [sic]? How on earth is that a transfer? Like, a genuine real-life possibility. Madness."

A third said: "Tom Huddlestone to Udinese. We've reached peak Football Manager now."

A fourth added: "Tom Huddlestone is [a] class player and I don't think anyone has a better passing range than him. However, he is out of contract at the end of the season, so it would be nice to get a couple of million for him."

At the age of 32, it could be an interesting shift in direction for the former Tottenham Hotspur star.
