Gary Neville has offered his thoughts on which player should pick up the Manchester United Player of the Year award and he's not gone for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The big Swede was largely unplayable before he picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury against Anderlecht just over a week ago, scoring 27 goals and dragging United out of the muck on so many occasions.

Ander Herrera has also been one of the top performers for United this term, emerging as a key player under Jose Mourinho - as evidenced in his excellent man marking job on Eden Hazard in the 2-0 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford a couple of weeks back.

But Sky Sports pundit Neville is in no doubt that Antonio Valencia is the man most deserving of scooping United's Player of the Season gong.

The Ecuadorian has been incredibly consistent and reliable at right-back, churning out a series of strong displays where he has been highly effective in both defending and attacking senses - the most recent impressive display coming in the 0-0 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last night.

United fans have been waxing lyrical over the former Wigan man and his contributions this term, with Neville so impressed with his fellow right-back that he informed viewers during his commentary last night Valencia would get his vote for the award.

Neville said:

"He [Valencia] would be my player of the season if I was casting my vote."

United fans, do you agree with Neville that Valencia should be the one collecting the award at the club's end of season awards?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
