Gareth Southgate has scooped the Coach of the Year award at the BBC SPOTY awards in Birmingham after a unanimous decision in favour of the England boss.

Southgate guided England to their best ever World Cup campaign for 28 years after they reached the semi-finals and was the man responsible for getting the country to believe in our football team again.

Southgate was on stage with England captain and BBC SPOTY nominee Harry Kane to reminisce about the summer before Gary Lineker announced that the former Middlesbrough manager had scooped the Coach of the Year award.

Of course, being the absolute hero that he is - Southgate gave a typically wonderful speech where he focused on his group of players:

Southgate, you're the one. It's just a shame there was no waistcoat sported tonight...
