The Top 5 Player Reactions To Their FIFA Ratings

The Top 5 Player Reactions To Their FIFA Ratings

Footballers always seem to have an issue with their FIFA stats...

There's no pleasing some footballers. If fame and fortune wasn't enough, they also want their avatar to be blessed with match-winning powers.

Every year, ahead of the latest FIFA video game release, EA Sports reveal the FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) card player ratings sending social media into meltdown.

While fans debate the ratings with excitement and fervour, players are tagging EA Sports in their posts demanding an explanation for their underrated skills.

Some are livid, some are embarrassed, some just want their haircut updated. Their ratings are an extension of their ego and they consider a poor round of ratings a slap in the face.

If the scouts have been harsh they know they're going to get a ribbing as soon as they walk into the dressing room and they best not look at their mentions. This annual event is the keyboard warrior's cup final.

With this in mind, some players lose the plot when they see their ratings. And we love it. So ahead of the launch of FIFA 19 we've compiled a list of the top five reactions. This is one you might want to watch behind the safety of your sofa.

Kieran Trippier:

We start with one ahead of FIFA 19. Sitting alongside fellow full-back and England team-mate Kyle Walker, Trippier is tasked with guessing his ratings on the upcoming game.

The former Burnley man correctly predicts his overall rating of 82, but is baffled at being given 58 for shooting after his free-kick heroics against Croatia at this year's World Cup. "Are you having a laugh?" he says before the red mist descends and he snaps his card in half. Just don't do that to any wingers' ankles on a Saturday, hey Kieran?

Jamie Vardy:

Before Trippier, there was Vardy - the original FUT card vandal. At the unveiling of a mid-season update for FIFA 16, Vardy is holding his old profile card, whilst being flanked by Riyad Mahrez and N'Golo Kante.

As they prepare to have their photo taken, Vardy decides to put his head through his and throw it on the floor. In fairness, EA Sports should have known better than to cross the man who lives by the motto: "Chat sh*t, get banged."

Thankfully, he was presented with a new card that marked a jump on his overall rating from 71 to 75. Phew.

Daniel Sturridge:

The Liverpool striker's roommate on England duty, Raheem Sterling, is asked to guess whether Sturridge's pace, shooting or dribbling is his highest stat on the FIFA 18 edition of the game.

When Sturridge discovers his pace has dropped to 76 he launches into a truly memorable meltdown, accusing the stat bods at EA of 'disrespecting' him. He hits back claiming he's "one of the fastest strikers in the Premier League" and demands the people responsible for giving him this rating lose their job. Don't worry Studge, you can always play for us on a Sunday morning.

Michy Batshuayi:

Despite not being able to hold down starting position at Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi is convinced his stats should be higher and he's not shy when it comes to expressing this opinion.

The Belgium's grasp of English is limited but when he's told he's been given 79 pace on FIFA 18 he fires back with the most eloquent of reponses: "F*cking sh*t!"

Then, when he finds out his passing is 59, he gets up out of his seat and says, "Let's go, let's go." Still, imagine how embarrassing it would be if you booted the ball against the goal post on live TV during the World Cup and it rebounded back in your face....

Cristiano Ronaldo:

We finish with FIFA 19's cover star and highest-rated player, Cristiano Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner doesn't have a physique that looks like it's been sculpted by Zeus himself by chance. He puts the work in and demands 24 hour perfection.

He's only happy when he's looking at a topless picture of himself holding the Champions League trophy. So when he was presented with his 94-rated card - a rating most players can only dream of - he scribbled out his score and replaced it with 100. Cheeky.
