After several details of FIFA 19 were released over the weekend, including the official trailer, cover star, new commentators, it was only a matter of time before gameplay for the latest game in the franchise would be leaked.

Each year, gamers are keen to be clued up on the new features and changes EA are making as they look to improve the game and differentiate it from the last game.

Going off the action here, where PSG and Juventus are squaring off in the Champions League mode that has FIFA fans froffing at the mouth, you can see it's very different to what we've been used to on FIFA 18.

In just 30 seconds of footage, filmed from the EA Play E3 event, there are plenty of heavy first touches, frequent changes of possession and a fair number of sloppy passes and movements. It also features a goalkeeping howler that even Loris Karius probably wouldn't be able to conjure up.

However, in fairness, that snippet is a tad misleading because things look much smoother in this full six minute clip - which includes commentary from the new team of Derek Rae and Lee Dixon, and features he Champions League graphics and trophy.

The other big gameplay-related news is that it seems as though the whole shooting mechanism has changed dramatically.

EA Sports described the new Timed Finishing system on their official website, and it sounds like it'll improve gameplay massively in FIFA 19:

"Get another level of control over every shot with the Timed Finishing system, which puts users in charge of how accurately they connect with the ball. Trigger a timed finish by double tapping the "shoot" button when attempting a strike." they described.

"The precision and timing of the second button tap determines the result of the contact; perfectly timed strikes increase a shot's accuracy and power, while poorly timed contacts make the shot more likely to miss the mark.

"Whether it's a hit from outside the box, a precision header, or a deft touch, timed finishing adds a higher layer of control to finishing in FIFA 19."

YouTuber ChuBoi gave fans a review of how different the act of shooting is after having a dabble with FIFA 19:

Will these new changes make for a better and more enjoyable game?
