EA Sports Remove Emiliano Sala From Nantes Squad On FIFA 19

EA Sports have announced that Emiliano Sala will no longer be in Nantes' squad on FIFA 19 in honour of the late Argentine striker.

Late last night, Dorset Police released a statement on their website and identified ‏the body they found in the wreckage of the plane as the missing footballer's.

"The body brought to Portland Port today, Thursday 7th February 2019, has been formally identified by HM Coroner for Dorset as that of professional footballer Emiliano Sala," Dorset Police said.

"The families of Mr Sala and the pilot David Ibbotson have been updated with this news and will continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

"Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.

"HM Coroner will continue to investigate the circumstances of this death supported by Dorset Police."

And today, EA told their audience that as a mark of respect and to honour his legacy, Sala has been removed from FIFA 19.

They issued the following statement: "It is with great sorrow that we learn the disappearance of Emiliano Sala. To respectfully honor his story, we will implement the following changes:

  • Sala will be removed from the FC Nantes team in FIFA.
  • Sala's FUT cards will no longer be available in the packages.
  • The price of Sala cards on FUT will remain permanently at the current price.

"We again sending our serious sincerest sympathies to his family, to Cardiff City to Nantes and to all his fans."

Went Sala went missing just over two weeks ago, EA temporarily reduced his maximum price on FIFA Ultimate Team after a small minority of people tastelessly decided to make an in-game profit on the game.

Sala's 77-rated card was going for around 800 coins before the tragic incident emerged, but his price was then increased to 10,000 coins. EA condemned the actions of those that 'price-fixed.

Meanwhile, Konami have just added Sala's face as part of a new data pack on PES 2019.
