WATCH: Wayne Rooney Trying To Speak Chinese Is Brilliantly Awkward

Oh dear.

Wayne Rooney has awkwardly been forced into trying out a few words of Chinese during Manchester United's pre-season tour and, understandably, the England skipper looked a tad out of his depth.

As is the way with modern super clubs, United are currently in the Far East ahead of the new Premier League season, and will play several friendlies, including one against arch rivals Man City.

But on top of the warm weather training and bounce games to get players up to speed, there's also the corporate tasks that highly paid players have to fulfil, and Rooney's latest duty was wishing a room full of sponsors well in Mandarin.

The England striker and team-mates Ander Herrera and Henrikh Mkhitaryan wished everyone 'goodbye' in Chinese, which you can watch above through your fingers above.

Rooney and co also had to introduce themselves on stage, which we're led to believe was just as excruciating

Think it's probably safe to say we won't see Wayne popping up in the Chinese Super League any time soon.
