Referee Kevin Friend Stops Play To Remove Dildo From The Field Of Play

It all happened during the West Ham vs Brighton game...

In a rather unfortunate incident during the Brighton vs West Ham game this weekend, referee Kevin Friend was snapped with a massive rubber penis in his hand. I can explain.

Friend tried his hardest to remove the stiff object as discretely as possible after a West Ham fan decided to launch one on the Amex Stadium turf.

But a photographer managed to take a snap of the Premier League referee, moments before handing it over to the fourth official.

To be fair, the 47-year-old managed the situation superbly while producing one of the funniest moments of the footballing weekend, but why hold it like this, Kevin?!

Brighton went on to secure all three points thanks to a goal from Glenn Murray as Chris Hughton's side move up to 13th in the Premier League ladder, while West Ham slipped down to 15th.

Hammers defender Pablo Zabaleta insisted his team need to be consistent as a team:

"In the first half we gave the ball away often and cheaply," he said via West Ham's official website.

"This is the Premier League and you can't make those mistakes - we conceded the goal and then you always need to react.

"In the second half we were the better team, we kept the ball and created good chances but we couldn't score.

"You need to be consistent as a team. Week in, week out you need to play well enough to pick up points. This is the most competitive and demanding league, so you have to be ready to play one game against a team who likes to keep possession, then the next against someone who is more direct.

Can West Ham avoid relegation this season?
