Kylian Mbappé might have won Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year, but Neymar couldn't pass up the chance to hang with Rihanna.

Neymar skipped out on the chance to see Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappé pick up his awards after attending Rihanna's fashion party in Paris instead.

Yes, that happened. The former Barcelona star took to Instagram to post a picture of him alongside the 31-year-old singer, with the caption saying "Queen and powerful woman."

Unsurprisingly, football fans are not impressed after the photo of the pair was posted online.

"Can't say I'm surprised!" one Twitter user wrote.

Someone else posted: "He seemed more level-headed when playing for Barça. Focuses more on marketing and partying than football these days."

A third said: "Imagine my shock."

A fourth added: "All that talent wasted. Always in a party. He doesn't care about football, his team, his teammates. It is a shame."

The 27-year-old Brazilian featured in Ligue 1's Team of the Season along with five of his other PSG teammates: Marquinhos, Ángel Di María, Marco Verratti, Thiago Silva and Mbappé.

However, the spotlight was well and truly placed on Mbappé during the Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP) Football Awards Ceremony on Sunday night, taking home both Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

The 20-year-old French forward became the first player to win the Young Player of the Year in three consecutive seasons, not to mention he became the first footballer to win both awards in the same season.

The former Monaco ace has been in scintillating form for the Ligue 1 champions this season, making 42 appearances across all competitions and scoring 38 times.

Mbappé, who has been linked with Real Madrid and recently dropped a hint that he could leave the club, has found the back of the net on 32 occasions in Ligue 1, with him scoring a brace against Dijon FCO on the weekend.

However, the PSG star is four goals off from catching Barcelona captain Lionel Messi in the race for the European Golden Shoe, with the French side set to play against Stade de Reims on Friday.

"Yes, I'm aiming for the Golden Boot this year; this afternoon I took a break from my nap to watch the Messi game after his two goals [against Eibar] I went straight back to bed!" he said.

"I have 90 minutes left [so] I have nothing to lose."

Will Mbappé catch up to Messi in the hunt for the Golden Shoe?
