Becks got done big-time...

Not learning from the time Rio Ferdinand tried to "punk" him as part of his World Cup wind-up series back in the day, David Beckham was the victim of a hilarious statue prank.

Ahead of Beckham's legacy being commemorated by LA Galaxy for his contribution in growing the MLS, James Corden duped him big-time as part of a sketch on The Late Late Show.

With Corden in the back manning things, a number of actors were enlisted for the prank, including someone posing as the actual sculptor - as well as another taking on the role of a bloke called 'Tom' - who thinks the England legend played for Man City and refers to him as "Dave Beckham".

After the worst highlight reel of all-time, the curtain is pulled down and Becks sees what he thinks is his real statue. His reaction is absolutely everything.

He's well aware that the statue shows him to have a massive chin and look like 'Stretch Armstrong' but is still able to be so polite as he points out how bad it is - although he does burst into a fair few expletives.

"It's slightly different than it was when I saw it in Chicago," Beckham says.

"I don't want to offend you but this is such a big thing for me," he later adds.

"It's taken a year to get to this point. There is no way that can go in front of the stadium. It's embarrassing. My parents are coming over, my wife is. Look how big my arms are - I honestly look like Stretch Armstrong."

He asks for the cameras (which he thinks belong to LA Galaxy) to be turned off and even looks like he's about to take off before a forklift smashes the statue to pieces and the 43-year old sees the funny side, saying, "You have probably done me a favour there".

To finish off, Corden comes out and immediately the former Real Madrid midfielder realises he's been merked before the pair have an embrace.

Galaxy unveiled the actual statue before their MLS season opener against Chicago Fire at Dignity Health Sports Park, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a late winner to get Guillermo Barros Schelotto's side off the mark.

While there have been some shouts that the Becks bust has a bit of Gordon Ramsay about it, Beckham definitely has one of the better statues given to footballers.

Radamel Falcao, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Maradona, Michael Essien, Mo Salah and Asamoah Gyan are part of the infamous 'shite statue club'.
