Frank de Boer could be in the Anderlecht dugout when they take on Celtic in the Champions League next week.

The Hoops travel to Belgium next Wednesday hoping to banish all memory of their disappointing 5-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on match day one.

Many expect it'll be a straight battle between both teams to see who finishes in third place in the group and gets Europa League football after Christmas.

And while Celtic will be going for the win, Brendan Rodgers is probably unsure about what Anderlecht team they'll face.

The Belgian champions this week sacked manager Rene Weiler and are now on the lookout for a replacement.

According to respected Belgian football journalist John Chapman, former Rangers defender de Boer - who was last week sacked by Crystal Palace - has emerged as a candidate to fill the role:

So could it be de Boer in the dugout for Celtic? It's more likely that the search for a new manager will continue beyond the Champions League game next week, with Nicolas Frutos in charge of the team on a temporary basis.

Regardless, it looks like Celtic will be going into the unknown in Belgium.
