A change of scenery...

Former Manchester United player Tom Thorpe has become the latest player to move to the Indian Super League, having signed for Atletico de Kolkata.

Atletico are managed by former Manchester United and Spurs hero Teddy Sheringham and the former England international has a few household names in his squad. Bolton Wanderers legendary goalkeeper Jussi Jääskeläinen, who also turned out for West Ham and Wigan Athletic, signed with the Bengal Tigers, while well-travelled striker Robbie Keane made Atletico the 11th club of his career - though he can't say he supported them as a young boy in this instance as they were only formed in 2014.

Thorpe, who came through the United youth academy and was captain of the reserve side when they won the Under 21 Premier League in 2012/13, only made one first-team appearance as a substitute in a win over West Ham in 2014/15 under Louis van Gaal. He was released in 2015 and joined Rotherham United, then playing in the Championship. The England youth international made just 10 appearances in two seasons for the Millers and spent time on loan at Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers, making 25 appearances for the latter in 2016/17 as the club achieved promotion to the Championship.

He left Rotherham at the end of the season and has now opted to move to India with Atletico, becoming the third English player to move to the club this summer, following the arrivals of Carl Baker and Conor Thomas.

Commenting on his decision to join Atletico, he said:

"I will learn a lot under Teddy's leadership, and will play to win. But I am sure my stint in ATK will have a remarkable impression on my career path. Above all I would like to thank the management for choosing me to be a part of this squad."
