Forgotten Arsenal player Lucas Perez is to be given a second chance by new boss Unai Emery.

The Spaniard signed for Arsenal for a reported £17 million in 2016 and took on the No.9 shirt at the club.

However, he made just 11 league appearances in his debut season and despite scoring a hat-trick in the Champions League, the former PAOK man looked surplus to the requirements in the summer of 2017 when he had his shirt number taken off him and handed to new signing Alexandre Lacazette.

He was subsequently loaned back to Deportivo, where he made 34 appearances and found the net seven times.

Most Gunners fans had probably forgot he existed, with many thinking he was as good as gone.

Yet as per reports from Spain, the 29-year old is to be handed a lifeline by his compatriot Emery, as he is poised to be back at the club's London Colney for pre-season.

While he's still likely got to do some more convincing to do, and there is set to be a meeting to assess his situation, it's positive news for Perez.

After a tough start back at his old club, Perez finished the season fairly well for relegated Depor, notching four and assisting three in his last ten games.

Arsenal fans, would you be pleased to Perez and some other fringe players get a chance to impress the new boss in pre-season?

Sound off in the comments.
