Thibaut Courtois Lays Into Jordan Pickford After Belgium Performance

Thibaut Courtois Lays Into Jordan Pickford After Belgium Performance

He's had a dig at Pickford's height for some reason.

Thibaut Courtois has given fellow goalkeeper Jordan Pickford both barrels after his performance in England versus Belgium.

England faced off against the Red Devils in the final group stages match and lost 1-0.

But despite the defeat, the Three Lions have progressed to the knockout stages of the World Cup, where they have a comparatively easy route to their European counterparts.

England have to play Columbia and then, if they beat the South Americans, they will play the winner of Switzerland and Sweden in the quarterfinals.

But their final group game defeat against Belgium has dampened one or two spirits among some England fans.

One of the criticisms of their last game was aimed at the Premier League's most expensive goalkeeper Pickford. They say the way in which he attempted to save Adnan Januzaj was poor form for a goalie, the former Sunderland player leading with the wrong hand.

Pundit Gary Neville - who usually gets his football analysis pretty spot on - said via ITV:

"His feet are off the ground when he's jumping. He goes with his wrong hand. It's just a bit weird."

This is despite former professional goalie David Preece explaining otherwise:

Even still, Courtois has twisted the knife still further, saying via Voetball24: "'The goalkeeper is 10cm smaller than me.

"I would have caught it. He was too busy throwing his legs in the air."

We're not sure what the Chelsea keeper is hoping to achieve with statements like this. Maybe he hopes Real Madrid will pay him the attention he desperately craves and offer him the contract he's always wanted there.
