John Terry turned down a surprise move to Spartak Moscow earlier this month, raising speculation about the future of the former Chelsea defender.

Speaking of Chelsea, that might be where the former England international has his eyes set on in his post-professional playing career.

According to the Sun, Terry has agreed to a deal worth £800,000 to become the Blues' under-23 manager, though the 37-year-old would need to collect his coaching badges before he can take on the role.

The former Chelsea captain would succeed Jody Morris, who left the club in June to work with Frank Lampard's Derby County.

Apparently, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has been heavily involved in Terry's return to the club.

"John has made no bones about the fact he's keen to get into management and obviously Chelsea has always been the dream," an unnamed source told the newspaper.

"He has been in talks with the boss for the past few weeks and has verbally agreed [to] the deal.

"It will only come to fruition, though, once he has finished his badges.

"An as-yet-undecided manager will take over in the interim."

Terry made his senior debut at Chelsea in 1998, made over 400 appearances for the club and picked up multiple trophies in his career, including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Champions League.

He left the club in 2017 for a stint with Aston Villa.
